As a society, one of the greatest obligations we have is to provide our children with a path to success. Kids need loving homes and safe communities, but they also need a thorough and well-rounded education and the opportunity to succeed. In that regard, New York State is failing too many of our children.
In the past, students had options that left the whole world wide open in front of them. Now, they are forced into a one-size-fits-all educational system that is leaving too many children behind. The dropout rate in New York State is alarming. Working together, we can fix the problem.
As the economy continues to falter, we need to give our children the option of a career-based educational track as well as a college track to ensure that all our children have a real chance for success. By reinstating the career track with the option of a general diploma as well as a regents diploma, our kids will have the opportunity to learn trades and skills that will lead to well-paid careers as soon as they graduate.
This website features information, videos and updates regarding the state of education in New York. If you agree that we can and need to do better, please sign my petition and tell state government that the time for education reform is now.
